The realignement of American politics.

Even the nomination of Donald Trump turned American politics on its head. The Democrats, whose strategy was to replace the electorate that won't reliably vote for them, wanted open borders and unlimited immigration. This suited the Republicans and their business sponsors who welcomed the influx of cheap labor.

Republicans wanted America to be the policeman of the world, providing for the defense of Europe at our expense. Democrats did not want a strong military because they resent taxes going to military projects instead of financing the influx of foreigners and the people on welfare in this country. The Democrats sabotaged every war we were in beginning with the Vietnam War.

Finally, the Republicans championed free trade. In reality free trade turned out to be trading at an unfair disadvantage to the US resulting in huge balance of payments deficits to Europe and China. America, which produced half of the world's products after WWII lost a good portion of its manufacturing capacity.  The leftists in the Democrat Party loved it, because they did not feel that it was fair that the US should be so rich and dominant.

To top it all off, the Democrats proceeded to suppress religious rights and had written off the white working class as a matter of policy.

So, along comes Trump and he reorders Republican priorities:

Open borders are out.
We will cut back commitments to defend Europe. The military will be made stronger.
Unfair trade deals are being abandoned. The operating principle is "America First!"

America's working class had responded and humiliated the Pant Suit Princess. Trump's reforms turned around the economy, where it is the fastest growing in the world.

The Swamp and the chattering class responded with doubling down on their ideas and trying to annul the results of Trump's election. They thought that by smearing Trump they would   force Trump to resign. Little do they understand that Trump could walk down Fifth Avenue stark naked and still be supported reelected.

The old GOP? Dead, dead, dead.
