So, this week's award goes to Hillary Rodham Clinton who suggested that Jill Stein, the green candidate for President in 2016 was a Russian Asset. Just to make sure that she cemented her award, Hillary suggested that Tulsi Gabbard is also a Russian Asset.

Why the gap keeps growing.

A post on facebook re how the govt owes the Social Security Fund 2.5 Trillion dollars brought forth this response. It explains why the gap between the rich and the middle class keeps growing.

And the gap between Buffet and you keeps getting bigger because you are prevented from getting the benefits that investing in the talents of our people and the productivity of capitalism should bring us. Jesus told us in the parable of the talents and the parable of the minas that making profit (including interest) on an investment is good and burying our money without profit is bad. Demanding that the govt invest our earnings so we can share in the productivity of our country is NOT greed. It is the right thing to do. But voting for Socialists is bad because they steal money from people. Socialism tolerates the loss of capital so in the end women have to sell their bodies and their hair to make ends meet. And you stand in line for bread for hours. I have seen it, I have lived it."

Ms Dowd: THIS WON'T DO IT EITHER.

I confess to listening to Rush Limbaugh at times. And when Rush said that Liberals are obsessed with trying to pin something on Donald Trump (anthing), I thought that he was exaggerating. But I wonder after having read Maureen Dowd's comments in the NY Times. Here is what Ms Dowd writes, proving that Rush is correct:

I was about to write that I hate to burst Ms Dowd's fantasy bubbles but that would not be quite accurate. In fact I do love to point out that the Libtrads were unable to get Donald Trump because: 1. paying off an annoying whore is not a crime; 2. Donald Trump was not a Russian agent and 3. he was not obstructing justice. And the Libtards will not get him this time either because the sleazy person in the Ukrainian caper was the VP who threatened Ukraine unless they fired the Prosecutor hot on the trails of the VP's son investigating the VP's son for getting a million bucks for...well...being the VP's son.

Rush keeps telling us that the Libtards do not understand why we (his supporters) like Donald Trump. Well here it is. Mr Trump has gotten rid of some of the most bothersome Liberal rules that hogtied our economy. He dispenses with the man-made global warming hoax. He is appointing Conservative (meaning reasonable) judges who do not legislate. He does not think that Iran should get nukes and threaten us and Israel as well as others in the Middle East. He does not approve of other countries taxing our exports more than we tax imports from other countries. He does not approve of China ripping off our companies by copying their products and manipulating currencies. He is letting others know that our government will serve our interest first, just like their governments serve their interest first. He does not believe that this country's interests are well served by having open borders. And yes, we like the way he fights back via his TWEETS: in clear English so we can understand. Yes, he is no angel. But untill Jesus Christ returns and becomes our King, Trump is the best we got

Tucker Carlson: What the revival of the left's smear campaign against Kavanaugh is really about

Believe it or not, it was a year ago this week that a constellation of left-wing activist groups cooked up a series of outlandish lies designed to keep Brett Kavanaugh off the Supreme Court.

The national news media, as you remember, joined the smear campaign. They repeated and magnified the slurs. But in the end, it was to no effect. Kavanaugh was confirmed anyway. Why? Because not a single allegation against him turned out to be true -- not one. And so the only lasting effect was to traumatize Brett Kavanaugh's wife and children.

And yet the left never to this day apologized for their dishonesty or their profound cruelty. Nor did they ever accept defeat. They never do accept defeat. Why? Because when politics is your religion, acknowledging reality looks like sin, and so it continues.

NYT REPORTERS BEHIND KAVANAUGH STORY SUGGEST KEY INFORMATION WAS REMOVED BY EDITORS

Over the weekend, The New York Times revived the attacks on Brett Kavanaugh. The newspaper ran a story, an excerpt from a book written by two of its reporters that claimed that while in college, more than 30 years ago, Kavanaugh exposed himself in effect to another student while drunk at a party. It was the flimsiest kind of charge. Where did it come from? Well, it came secondhand from a single classmate of Kavanaugh's, a man who worked as a left-wing activist, later worked for the Clintons, in fact.

So, 20 years ago, no credible news organization would have run a story like that on the basis of that sourcing. The Times didn't hesitate, and it was picked up everywhere of course, instantly. On NBC's cable channel, for example, they immediately denounced Brett Kavanaugh as a gang rapist.

"I've never heard of a guy who is a one-time rapist," Jason Johnson, politics editor for TheRoot.com, said on MSNBC. "I've never heard of a guy who is a one-time sexual assaulter. I grew up with guys like this. He is from around this area, right? He is the fifth guy in a gang rape, okay? He is the guy who comes in after he is drunk as everybody else encourages. He can get away with it. And he has been pretty much covered his entire life.

Kavanaugh frustrates their political hopes. So any smear against him is acceptable, no matter what it is. But don't kid yourself. It's not just about destroying Brett Kavanaugh; he is ancillary. It's about destroying the entire legitimacy of our third branch of government, the judiciary.

Johnson added: "It amazes me that we have an administration that, out of the millions of people who are qualified in this country, of all races and genders, they consistently find men who beat, abuse and sexually assault women."

Imagine saying something like that about somebody, where there's no evidence that it's true and a lot of evidence that it's not. But they didn't hesitate.

Democratic presidential candidates, meanwhile, demanded that Kavanaugh be removed by force immediately from the Supreme Court.

Julian Castro: What becomes clear is that he should be impeached. The House absolutely has the ability to impeach him.

Joy Reid, MSNBC host: And do you believe then that he is essentially a sexual predator or that he was at some point?

Castro: Yes, I believe -- I believe that he engaged in the conduct that was described.

Beto O'Rourke: And given the fact that it appears as though Brett Kavanaugh lied under oath, which is a crime, I think that he has disqualified himself for service on the Supreme Court and he should step down, or he should be impeached.

A sexual predator who must be impeached. OK.

But wait, here's a late-breaking addition to the story: It turns out that the woman it supposedly happened to -- the alleged victim back at Yale more than 30 years ago -- it turns out that person has no memory whatsoever of the incident.

Whatever they tell you, don't let them tell you that justice has any role in this. Of course, this is a pure power grab. The left feels entitled to run the country.

Now, the paper knew that but somehow neglected to include it in their account, probably because it strongly suggests that their story is once again, a total crock -- yet another lie. They should have told you that and they didn't. It's dishonest, of course.

And you'd think it would spur the Democratic candidates, the one who called for Kavanagh's impeachment, to rethink their positions. New evidence? Maybe that would shape their view. But no, not at all. Several Democrats said exactly as they did a year ago. Remember this?

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.: There's no presumption of innocence or guilt when you have a nominee before you.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Ct.: We have a constitutional duty to get to the bottom of these allegations. Judge Brett Kavanaugh has a responsibility to come forward with evidence to rebut them.

Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del.: Kavanaugh who is seeking a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court, and who I think now bears the burden of disproving these allegations, rather than Dr. Ford and Miss Ramirez.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y.: To those who I hear, say over and over, "This isn't fair to Judge Kavanaugh. He is entitled due process. What about the presumption of innocence until proven guilty?" He is not entitled to those because we're not actually seeking to convict him.

We're not trying to convict him. We're just trying to destroy him and his family -- so no due process, no presumption of innocence. Fairness is irrelevant.

Plenty on the left are using the Kavanaugh saga to justify packing the court -- adding more justices to make it reliably left-wing or to change the rules so they can remove any judge the left doesn't approve of. This is the opposite of what the third branch was meant to do or be.

The judiciary was meant to change slowly. The courts change over decades, rather than in response to a single election cycle. That's the way it was designed and for a reason. And for more than 200 years, it's worked.

But to the modern left, that's totally intolerable. They're committed to remaking this country completely right now. America needs a new system, they tell us, one with open borders and far fewer pesky individual rights. Rights like the freedom to speak clearly out loud. The freedom of expression, the right to bear arms, the freedom of religion -- no.

To create this new utopia of obedient, happy serfs, they're going to have to destroy all of that -- two centuries of precedent and tradition. Maybe even destroy the country itself, whatever. They're happy to do that.

As Robespierre noted, when you make omelets, you break eggs.

AJ Adds:This is a clear case of DELIBERATE fraud done by the NY Times. They should be sued and put out of business.

 

The Kavanaugh smear #2

We have seen the Left do Kavanaugh smear #2. Smear #1 was to stop him from getting confirmed. Smear #2 is done to intimidate him from voting with the Conservatives on the Supreme Court, or any Conservative Justice from accepting a nomination when Justice Ginsberg vacates her seat. Also, the Left wants an excuse to label any Conservative decision as illegitimate since Kavanaugh voted for it.

How was the smear done? The NY Times knows of a book, where the authors claim that Kavanaugh as a student went to a party (drunk) and exposed his wieny and said to a woman "hey hold on to this." The woman? She does not remember it. Collaboration? None. The NY Times knew about the lack of evidence but they published a story and left out that there was no evidence. So, it was a deliberate smear by people who knew it was a smear - done to accomplish the political aims stated above.

As stated recently on these pages, the problem is that the Left has become lawless yet there is no consequences to pay for their lawlessness.

The Constitution protects free speech, especially political speech. This is NOT a free speech issue though but fraud. We do have a law that prohibits a newspaper from doing deliberate fraud. It should be applied. The NY Times should be shut down. NOW!

The NY Times published a retraction, but of course every Democrat candidate for President continues calling for the impeachment of Kavanaugh as they call for the impeachment of Trump. And the war against America continues.

My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to "print" it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined. Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:

Dear Editor:

So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer.

Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground.

They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved good-bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture.

Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.

Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought alongside men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France and Japan None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from.

They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan . They were defending the United States of America as one people.

When we liberated France , no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German-American or the Irish-American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country.

Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here.

These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one Red, White and Blue bowl.

And here we are with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country.

I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life.

I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty , it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

Polar bears and the shrinking myth.

Beto should be off the ballot.

Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke proposes that we have a Civil War. How has he done this? He promised in the last debate the 10 Democrats who are now running for President  that if elected he will issue a Presidential Ukaz (Executive Order) to confiscate all AR-15s and AK47s. He made it clear that the confiscation will NOT be voluntary.

To start with, his premise is ineffective at best. Legally purchased AK47s and AR15s are NOT military weapons. Let us define the terms we are dealing with. The military uses fully automatic weapons. That means that the trigger mechanism allows you to pull the trigger and as long as the trigger remains in that position, the weapon will fire continuously. Civilians are not allowed to own such a weapon by law. Civilians can purchase only semi-automatic weapons.These weapons can fire only one bullet for each pull of the trigger but the mechanism kicks out the spent cartridge and replaces it with a fresh one without the shooter needing to do anything. That is why they are  called SEMI-AUTOMATIC.  Ordinary weapons require the shooter to do something to put a fresh round in the firing chamber before the pull of the trigger will fire another bullet or shotgun ammo.

Legally sold AR-15s and AK47 s are made to look like military weapons, but they lack the capability to operate like military weapons. Mr O'Rourke knows that but the pretense that he lacks the knowledge of how weapons work is just a tool to confiscate all weapons Americans have and intend to use as a last resort to prevent would be tyrants from seizing power.

How does the promise of Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke is a call for Civil War? Several States (including Texas) have laws that prohibit the confiscation of weapons. Many Sheriffs and Police Chiefs stated that they will not enforce such calls to collect weapons. So, that means that Mr O;Rourke would have to use the military. Some would obey, some would refuse. That is the very definition of Civil War.

I propose that we call on State Governors to strike the name of Mt O;Rourke from primary ballots in next year's election. While the Constitution gives us a great leeway to say anything (one Rapper calls for white people to be shot) it does not prevent us from imposing consequences for proposing doing such things as starting a Civil War.

Al Qaeda Congresswoman.

Here is the picture of a Congresswoman when she was in an Al Qaeda training camp. What is she doing in this country, let alone being a Congresswoman? Oh, she is a Democrat. So, when you vote for Democrats you in fact vote for a Party that sees nothing wrong with having a member who is a former recruit of a terrorist organization that killed 3,000 Americans on 9/11.

Don't cry for me - AMERICA.

There was a time when America's Liberals were celebrating the fall of South Africa's apartheid regime. Finally, they said, these people can have a just and fair government and racial harmony will follow. It didn't happen that way. South African whites are being slowly murdered, raped, burned out and chased away from their birthplace.All while the country is sinking economically.Much like California.

The Philadelphia Inquirer celebrates the results of the last census. With glee barely concealed, it is pointed out that America is browning fast, now only 60% white. A thousand counties have gone majority non-white with several hundred on the way. With the increased browning comes an increase in the power of the Left. Meaning a turning away from the type of morality God ordained and a turn to the government as the source of employment. We can see where this will lead to, just follow the recent history of Argentina. Then Venezuela.

The soft underbelly of America's Socialists.

Perhaps y’all have heard this saying before: “Sometimes even a blind squirrel can find an acorn.” I speak in reference to the current kerfluffle created by President Trump and one of his tweets about Democrat Congressman Elijah Cummings and portions of his congressional district in Baltimore. This may anger folks, but so be it. I do not believe that President Trump had any idea of what he would unleash. What President Trump had stumbled upon is the dirty secret of the progressive, socialist left for the past half century. There have been many of us who have addressed this issue, but for all these years, the Republican Party has not paid it any attention.

I first used the reference of the 21st Century economic plantation back in 2012 while a member of Congress. Saying such drove the progressive, socialist left abjectly apoplectic. Having been someone born and raised in an inner-city community, Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward, which also produced Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I have seen this plight worsen over the years. I have watched the insidious Republican “outreach” efforts into the minority communities fail. The reason is simple; outreach has no meaning. It is simply a feel-good effort, but produces no lasting relationships.

Why?

Because the focus has not been on real engagement and policy inclusion based upon common principles, values. There has been a dismissive attitude in understanding the gaps and flaws in the progressive, socialist ideology and how it is antithetical to the core, fundamental, values of the inner city, black community. Finally, a Republican, President Trump, tripped over the golden acorn, perhaps blindly so, and found the immense nugget of truth for which the left has no defense.

The left has purposefully, and intentionally, destroyed the black community with their policies of welfare and dependency … all for the purpose of electoral gain. And they have deployed black representatives and groups to perpetuate what they have created. Remember the response of the Congressional Black Caucus when President Trump announced in his first State of the Union address in 2018 the incredible unemployment numbers for the black community – stoic faces. No accolades from the NAACP, nor the National Urban League that I could see, as they have become the overseers on this new 21st Century economic plantation.

And this revelation has resulted in the typical, now ineffective, response of decrying “racism.” And folks, therefore, the greatest enemy to progressive socialists are minority conservatives.

Consider the evidence before us for examination and analysis, and you can only surmise one thing – that the left has produced generations of victims. And ask yourself, why has the Republican Party, the party of the emancipation of blacks, not had the courage or resolve to make this case?

When I was born, back in 1961, it was a rarity to see a black household without both a mom and dad in the home. As a matter of fact, there were those of us who would make it proudly known that our parents owned their homes, and we did not reside in government housing. Being on government subsistence was an abhorrent condition. Back then you had middle to high 70 percent of black households with mothers and fathers, but today that number is hovering around 23-24 percent. It does not take an Einstein to figure this out. Many of us who reside near urban centers see it. And this consequence is a direct result of President Lyndon Johnson’s [Un]Great Society policies. Yes, Johnson, a well-known racist who sought to use the Civil Rights Act for political leverage, implemented a policy of the government giving checks to women who had children out of wedlock. The caveat was that the woman could not have a man in the home. Now, having a baby in the black community is not so much about family, but rather about getting a government check … and rewarding irresponsibility. Even NY Liberal Democrat Senator, Daniel Patrick Monyihan, was a strong critic.

Then there is evidence that suggests that Planned Parenthood clinics target minority communities, mainly latino and black populations. And to realize that the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, was a white supremacist, racist, and spoke at Ku Klux Klan rallies, a domestic terrorist organization. We are now approaching the genocidal number of 20,000,000 black babies murdered in the womb since 1973’s Roe v. Wade decision. But when did you last hear any black member of Congress address this issue? And we know how impactful as a political organization Planned Parenthood is, to the tune of receiving $563.78M of U.S. taxpayer funding as of the 2017-18 Planned Parenthood annual report.

You are also seeing the erosion of quality education opportunities in the inner-city communities. And yes, any and all efforts for school choice, vouchers, are defeated by these gatekeepers, so called black leaders. This is a result of the power and impact of the teacher’s unions, AFT/NEA, who are major supporters of the Democratic Party. Case in point, back in April 2009, it was the so called “first black president” Barack Hussein Obama, whose budget proposals would phase out the D.C. school voucher program. Now, was that racist? I think so because it was a move to deny deserving young minority children an opportunity to rise above and become victors, not victims. It was also an example of black, progressive socialist elitism, as Obama’s daughters went off to the prestigious Sidwell Friends School in D.C., while other kids who looked like them were sent away.

Let us not forget that the top 10 most dangerous cities in the United States, published in a USA Today February 2019 article, are controlled by Democrats.

Rep. Elijah Cummings once referred to Baltimore as a “drug infested” city. Senator Bernie Sanders compared Baltimore, the third most dangerous city in America, to a third world country in 2015. Was that also a racist statement? Of course not, not for the progressive, socialist left who have replicated these failures across America in urban centers.

This is the greatest opportunity going forward for the Republican Party. They should simply compare their history with that of the Democrats. They should line up their policies side by side with the left. They should go into the inner cities and stay, and put the left on defense because they cannot defend these abhorrent policies, past, present, and future.

The acorn has been found; it is like Achilles’ heel. The question is whether the GOP will go on the offensive, or will they cower when called a name? Just remember, on Juneteenth this year, a celebration of emancipation here in Texas, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee was leading the charge as the Democrats held hearings on reparations. The party of slavery and physical bondage is today, the party of economic enslavement and bondage.

To Kill an American 
You probably missed this in the rush of news, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper, an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.  

So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is . So they would know when they found one. (Good one, mate!!!!)  

'An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish , Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghan. 

An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.

An American is Christian , or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in   Afghanistan . The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses. 

An American is also free to believe in no religion.. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world.

 The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence , which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous.. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return. 


When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country! 


As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan ..

The national symbol of America , The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America  


Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11 , 2001 earning a better life for their families. It's been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.

 So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo , and Stalin , and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world.. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself . Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American. 

Liberal movie: Liberals hunt Trump supporters.

A movie showing liberals stalking supporters of President Donald Trump is slated to be released in September but has lost an advertisement on ESPN in the wake of two mass shootings on August 3 and August 4.” Basically, this is a movie where white liberal elites go hunting with guns for Trump supporters for the people Hillary Clinton called “deplorables.”

It’s from Universal Pictures. The movie is entitled The Hunt, and it “shows people hunting down”  “‘deplorables,’ a term [that] Hillary Clinton used to describe Trump supporters during the 2016 campaign.” The Hollywood Reporter, I guess, has seen a screening. “‘Did anyone see what our [bleep]-in-chief just did?’ one character asks others early in the movie, reported the Hollywood Reporter. ‘At least The Hunt’s coming up. Nothing better than going out to the Manor and slaughtering a dozen deplorables.’

“According to the Reporter, the movie’s script features blue-state characters choosing to hunt red-state characters who expressed pro-life positions or were deemed racist.” You heard me correctly. Universal Pictures is about to release a movie in which liberal elites hunt and gun down rural “deplorables” for sport. There were ads running on ESPN; ESPN pulled the ads. “One executive who passed on the script” didn’t want any part of this and said “that he didn’t even read it, adding:

“‘The idea seemed crazy. Employees in different departments were questioning the wisdom of making such a movie in these times. In light of the horrific…” This is a good point. There’s two levels here. On one level, remember this isn’t anything new. Back during the George W. Bush administration, we routinely had books written about the assassination of George W. Bush — and the media promoted them, and the media reviewed them, and the media said they were great works of art.

(paraphrased) “They might be controversial, but, yes, we need to understand this rage. We need to understand what is behind this.” There were movies made, not only about actually assassinating Bush, but there were training-type movies made about how to do it — and in every instance, there was no condemnation from the Drive-By Media. The Drive-By Media sat by and promoted or applauded or told us we needed to take time — not react rashly — to understand what’s behind this.

A Dog’s Bequest

Before humans die, they write their last will & testament, give their home and all they have to those they leave behind.  If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I’d ask. . . .

To a poor and lonely stray I’d give my happy home; my bowl and cozy bed; soft pillow and all my toys;

The lap which I have loved so much; the hand that stroked my fur; and the sweet voice that spoke my name.

I’d will to the sad, scared shelter dog the place I had in my human’s loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.

So, when I die, please do not say,l “I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand.”

Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has held no joy or hope, and give my place to him.

Why Nike’s Capitulation To Kaepernick Matters

Stop normalizing the brittle sensibilities of social justice warriors.

Colin Kaepernick has made a fantastic living out of protesting the America flag. That’s fine. No political speech should be inhibited, not even pseudo-intellectual historical revisionism. But let’s stop pretending that kneeling during the national anthem at sporting events is really about “respecting the flag” or criminal justice reform or any fixable policy problem.

Whatever the underlying causes for Kaepernick’s popularity—some of them certainly legitimate—these protests are acts of contempt toward an irredeemable nation created in sin. This view of our founding is an increasingly popular position on the left. And if it ever takes hold in mainstream American life, we’re in real trouble.

After pictures of Nike’s Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July edition were released online, Kaepernick, who “sacrificed everything” by making tens of millions of dollars as a corporate-sponsored activist, reportedly complained to company officials that the Betsy Ross flag on the back of a proposed sneaker was an offensive symbol because of its “connection to an era of slavery.”

It seems unlikely that being triggered by an 18th century Quaker seamstress is going to help reduce police brutality. But the sneakers themselves aren’t really the point. (I’m skeptical that the entire episode wasn’t just cooked up to bring attention to the company.) As an old-timey flag-waver, though, I am curious which other American icons and beliefs will be deemed offensive as we head towards full wokeness.

After all, everything about the founding is—tenuously or otherwise—connected to an “era of slavery.” This pretty much means not only every patriotic symbol of the era, but all the principles that gird the small-l, freedom-guaranteeing liberalism that was codified by the founders—many of whom, it should be stressed, were far more enlightened than their contemporary critics, certainly the Fidel Castro-praisingKaepernick.

Without this tangible set of enduring ideals, we have nothing as a national entity but a batch of constantly evolving progressive grievances.

Now, if you’re genuinely upset by the legendary embroidery of Betsy Ross—and it seems unlikely that many Americans are—you’re probably not equipped to engage in serious political discourse, anyway. I can assure you Kaepernick will be the victor in any debate over slavery, since there will be no one taking the other side. That discussion ended after a bloody war a long time ago.

Still, the usual suspects rushed to defend Kaepernick, claiming that “some” white nationalists had adopted the original flag, making it offensive. BuzzFeed was only able to dig up two instances to bolster this risible theory. In one, a member “of white nationalist group Identity Evropa” reportedly displayed the flag and, in another, a bunch of high school students in Grand Rapids, Michigan, “displayed the Betsy Ross flag along with a Trump campaign flag” because, I guess, we’re just going to keep conflating Trump supporters with Klansmen.

Even if this theory were correct, and even if Kaepernick’s problem with the sneakers involved the flag’s appropriation by racists and not a connection to an “era of slavery,” white nationalists have no claim to an iconic image. Mass consumption of sneakers with a Betsy Ross flag image would be a great way to take it back, in fact.

As far as I can tell, Kaepernick has never claimed to protest the American flag because we, as a nation, have failed to live up to the inherent values it represents. He protests it because he thinks the image epitomizes oppression.

“Instead of celebrating American history the week of our nation’s independence, Nike has apparently decided that Betsy Ross is unworthy, and has bowed to the current onslaught of political correctness and historical revisionism,” Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey said, after announcing he was ordering the Arizona Commerce Authority to withdraw incentives for Nike building a manufacturing plant in the state.

I don’t typically care for this sort of political showboating, but corporations shouldn’t be getting any crony carve-outs from state governments, anyway. And rent-seeking mega-corporations that are offended by iconic images of the nation’s founding certainly don’t deserve them. Yet, we also don’t need the state monitoring anyone’s speech.

Then again, progressives who try to use the state to destroy chicken-sandwich chainsand cake shops that fail to pledge allegiance to their doctrines, can’t act surprised when Americans start being offended that a giant sportswear company has adopted regressive hard-left positions.

Nike can do what it likes, of course. For example, just this week, the company submitted to the authoritarian Chinese government and stopped selling certain products after one of its fashion designers went on Instagram to support protests in Hong Kong. If an iconic American company like Nike, built in a free enterprise system, is helping to normalize both the brittle sensitivities of social justice warriors and Chinese communists, I suppose people might start getting offended themselves.

Many of the same people who treat flag-waving Americans as jingoistic rubes claim that Kaepernick’s protests were meaningful and important. Either the flag matters or it doesn’t. If those who see the flag as a representation of the worst aspects of American life believe it’s worth protesting, then surely those who see it as a symbol of our best characteristics should find it worth defending, as well.

The duck and the lawyer.

THE DUCK AND THE LAWYER

A big city lawyer went duck hunting in rural North Dakota. He shot a bird, but it fell into the field on the other side of the fence.

As the lawyer climbed over the fence, an elderly farmer drove up on his tractor and asked him what he was doing.

The litigator responded, "I shot a duck and it fell in this field, and now I'm going to retrieve it."

The old farmer replied, "This is my property, and you are not coming over here."

The indignant lawyer said, "I am one of the best trial attorneys in New York and, if you don't let me get that duck, I'll sue you and take everything you own."

The old farmer smiled and said, "Apparently, you don't know how we settle disputes in North Dakota.  We settle small disagreements like this with the Three Kick Rule."

The lawyer asked, "What’s the Three Kick Rule?"

The Farmer replied, "Well, because the dispute occurs on my land, I get to go first. I kick you three times and then you kick me three times and so on back and forth until someone gives up."

The attorney quickly thought about the proposed contest and decided that he could easily take the old codger. He agreed to abide by the local custom.

The old farmer slowly climbed down from the tractor and walked up to the attorney. His first kick planted the toe of his heavy steel-toed work boot into the lawyer's groin and dropped him to his knees!

His second kick to the midriff sent the lawyer's last meal gushing from his mouth. The lawyer was on all fours when the farmer's third kick to his rear end sent him face-first into a fresh cow pie.

The lawyer summoned every bit of his will and remaining strength and very slowly managed to get to his feet. Wiping his face with the arm of his jacket, he said, "Okay, you old fart. Now it's my turn."

(I love this part)

The old farmer smiled and said, "Nah, I give up. You can have the duck."

This is NOT idiocy. It is beyond that.

We have not had an IDIOT OF THE DAY award like this for a while.

But we do today. It is getting harder and harder to believe that some folks are serious. Is she putting us on?

A gun accident and its aftermath in California.

  Linda Burnett, 23, a resident of San Diego, was visiting her 

in-laws and while there went to a nearby supermarket to pick up some

groceries. Later, her husband noticed her sitting in her car in the

driveway with the car running and the windows rolled up.  Her eyes were

closed with both hands behind the back of her head. He became

concerned and walked over to the car. He noticed  that Linda's eyes

were now open and she looked very strange. He asked her if she was

okay; Linda replied that she had been shot in the back of the head and

had been holding her brains in for over an hour (at least it seemed

that way to her, it actually had been 15 minutes, she blamed the

inability to tell time on her head injury).


The husband called the paramedics, who broke into the car because

the doors were locked and Linda refused to remove her hands from her

head.


When they finally got in, they found that Linda had a wad of bread

dough on the back of her head.  From the back seat a Pillsbury biscuit

canister had exploded from the heat, making a loud noise that sounded

like a gunshot, and the wad of dough hit her in the back of her head.

When she reached back to find out what it was, she felt the dough and

thought it was her brains. She initially passed out, but quickly

recovered.


Linda is blonde, a Democrat, and a Biden supporter; but that

could all be a coincidence.


The defective biscuit canister was analyzed and it was determined to

be Trump's fault.
