Why shouldn't we recognize Jerusalem as Israel's Capital?

1. From the historical point, it has been Israel's capital for close to 3,000 years.

2. The PLO wants East Jerusalem to be its capital in a "two state" solution. There being an American Embassy in Jerusalem is no obstacle to that; assuming the PLO and Israel hammer out an agreement.

3. Why should Islamic countries be  concerned? Israel has been protecting sites that are holy to Islam. That would not change with the American Embassy in Jerusalem.

4. The Arab noise about the proposed move is par for the course: the Arabs want the Jews out of Israel. Hard to negotiate with people dead set to annihilate you. The Arabs must start with recognizing Israel's right to exist peacefully in its territory. Short of doing that, the Arabs are entitled to nothing.
