Crosby injury continues to roil hockey.

Pittsburgh fans continue to lament the injury to Crosby and claim that the "hit" on Crosby was intentional. First, it was no a hit. Niskanen simply raised the stick in his hands as he tried to ward off a backward cannonading Crosby as he was falling backwards. By the time Crosby connected with the stick, his head was  much lower. It is unfortunate, because undoubtedly Crosby is the best player on the Penquins.
 
Unfortunately for Sidney Crosby, he is prone to concussions and this is his third time of a serious concussion. One of the three concussions he suffered in practice.  
 
Pittsburgh fans claim that the team is half as good without Crosby. Yeah? The Caps almost managed to blow game 3.
 
The following sequences (1 and especially two) show the sequence of events. It is clear that Niskanen did not  aim for the head but that Crosby was falling backwards and that is why the stick hit him in the head:
