Cassandra's lament.

There is an enigmatic story about a young woman Cassandra. She lived in ancient Greece and was gifted by the god Apollo with the gift of Prophecy. To put it bluntly, Apollo expected her to come across with some hanky panky, but she didn't. So, he modified his gift that while her predictions of doom  would come through, NOBODY would believe her.

There are modern versions of Cassandra. They tell us that it is only a matter of time till the world's currencies destruct and a world-wide economic implosion takes place. During the last hundred years major currencies have lost 98-99% of their value. The Krugman's of the world shout "print more" and governments are indeed printing more. Every idiot college Professor is parroting the line that we owe it to ourselves (so we can borrow and print money) and live on that because they  had repealed the laws of economics. But the Cassandras know and mutter woe, woe, woe.

Nobody belives them and are pumping up the Stock Market with all the money printed. Meanwhile, other signs point to the end of rational thought at least on campus. How else to explain the horde of black students who demand to be segregated?  Or the faculty that is slowly pushing men out of higher education? Or, the Democrats who keep insisting that the Russians stole the election?
