Dems tried and failed.

The Democrats telegraphed via Schumer that thay woulddo all they could to stop Kavanaugh from becoming a Justice on the Supreme Court. Schumer lived down to his promise.

First, they tried to Bork Kavanaugh by claiming that he was  an extremist. That didn't work. Then they tried their ultimate weapon: the Sexual predator accusation. They miscalculated.

How? They picked a "victim" who was a professional expert at planting false memories and on how to pass a lie detector test. Then they trotted out a couple of absurd accusers.

Why did it not work?

First, because Judge Kavanaugh was an examplary husband, Father and man and sexual predators do not change.There was simply no evidence that the accuser's story was real.  Second, because Republicans stood firm and fought off the Dems' efforts to delay and obfuscate. And third, because enough people saw that the Dem Senators and the fevered demonstrators were acting outside of American law. Their efforts were a threat to the Law that specifies that charges must be proven.

What is interesting and somewhat scary is that Sen Susan Collins labeled Kavenaugh a centrist. But I think Collins is wrong and Kavanaugh will not turn into another Suter or an 'even Stevens.'
