The rebranding of the GOP.

Ronald Reagan rebranded the GOP in the 80s from a bunch of happy losers to winners. Well, sort of. But, the rebranding lost its effectiveness as the Clintons discovered how to talk themselves into Washington. Then came George W, who won on security issues, but let the Media savage the GOP.

Then along came Trump. The Donald ran as the champion of the Country Class, the people left behind and maligned by the Elites. The road to the Presidency was open to a Republican who could effectively champion the Country Class. Trump could and he did. And he is the President Elect. That is it in a nutshell.

Some believe that Trump won because of Hillary's crookedness. That was part of the reason, but it is Hillary's crookedness that swept away every other candidate in the Democrat Party. Bernie Sanders would not be able to get the nomination. The deck was stacked against him.

So, Trump succeeded better than anyone hoped.  Two factoids show the extent of his success. The GOP retains its control of Congress and the other factoid is the response of Speaker Ryan to the Trump presidency. Ryan is ebullient that the GOP will now get its bills enacted into law.

How do we know that the rebranding of the GOP was successful? Republicans carried the industrial heartland of the Country: PA, OH, MI and WI. They did so, because Trump campaigned for the workers of the Midwest. The rebranding was successful.
