Here we go again. A shaky deal cobbled together in Minsk. A cease fire to start this weekend. Heavy weaponry withdrawn from the front lines. Then what? Are we to believe that THIS cease fire is NOT cobbled together by the same anti-Russian elements of Western Ukraine that ran the last sham? Is this deal better than the last one? Or, is it simply the "fighting while negotiating" strategy?
Another idea bandied around is that Ukraine will get $40B aid. Who in Ukraine will get that?
Many issues remain unresolved:
1. What happens to the 5,000 troops in Debaltseve?
2. Where will the demarcation line be drawn?
3. What about the autonomy promised to the Rebs then withdrawn?
4. What will be the legal status of the Rebs if there is peace?
One more thing. About the explosion in the Donetsk area chemical factory that makes explosives. Was this REALLY a chemical explosion or an atomic one? It looked suspiciously like a small nuke. And the Ukrainian explanation that it was caused by someone smoking a cigarette is an insult to intelligence.
