Pancreatic cancer: untangling the interactions.

Pancreatic cancer is very difficult to cure. The cancer cells have novel ways of blocking the immune system from spotting them so t-cells can miss them. Efforts are under way to neutralize the cancer cell camouflage and also to induce the t=cell response. Some treatments work, but then cancer recurs. In such case the treatment with an antibody against hTERT and IL-12 is being tried.

Some of the drugs used are very expensive because the protein drug must be purified. Inovio has a procedure to inject the DNA sequence to produce the drug which is much cheaper. Here is a presentation of the concepts involved:
